Cosmetics Safety Assesment

We, COSMETICS REGISTRATION (INDIA) are a consultancy subsidiary of ARHAM CONSULTANTS (INDIA) PTY, New Delhi and are focused on the regulatory compliance of Cosmetics Imports Registration in India.

Safety Assessment of the Cosmetic Product

It is of key consideration that the Cosmetic Product shouldn’t lead to any adverse reaction, damage or health hazard to human health. It is for this reason that every cosmetic product in the Indian market, prior to its marketing, should undergo safety tests and quality assessments. The Indian cosmetics Regulation makes it mandatory that the safety assessments and quality tests are performed under the vigilant eye of an accredited qualified personnel who holds the university degree in toxicology (or a comparable degree). The safety assessment and the quality tests must be based on a comprehensive toxicological profile of every content, raw ingredient, possible contaminants and the additives. This should include factors such as interaction with other chemicals, chemical structures, levels of exposure to environmental factors, reactivity with other ingredients and the product’s performance under foreseeable conditions of use. It is mandatory that the product dossier is accompanied with this report on product safety, duly signed by the qualified person.

Our Safety Assessment Services for Cosmetic Products

As part of the services, our affiliated toxicology labs can conduct the safety assessment of the cosmetic products of our clients in order to meet regulatory specifications raised by the Indian Cosmetics Regulation. The data so obtained is used to generate the safety report for the cosmetic product dossier.

The scientific data on the safety assessment is further utilized for regulatory declaration on the product labels and the dossier (e.g. warnings, safety pictograms, ingredients and composition)
